ABOUT
The Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra is launching a brand-new Covid 19-friendly series with STRING SERENADE – a concert to celebrate the orchestra’s first performance in over a year. Inspired by the versatility and expressive charm of the string section, String Serenade will showcase an enormous range of styles, sounds, moods and emotions. From Mozart’s bright, bubbly, champagne-like Divertimento in D major to the deepest, darkest emotional depths of Barber’s Adagio for Strings, to Grieg’s evergreen and thrillingly virtuosic Holberg Suite – this concert promises to touch the soul! The historic Tramways Building, with its cathedral-like atrium and acoustics, is a match made in heaven for the tintinnabular sounds of Arvo Pärt’s Fratres. South African composer Arthur Feder’s evocative new piece Homestead will also receive its world premiere.
